The estimated program length is 2-4 years. Duration of the program will be determined by a number of factors which may include the number of previous credits earned and whether or not you will be pursuing the MA in Special Education (phase 2)<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Is the Masters in Special Education mandatory?<\/p>

No, it is not mandatory, but highly recommended.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Course Delivery<\/p>

Are the courses held in person, online, or hybrid?<\/h3>\n

Most classes will be held in an online synchronous format with two in person meetings required per semester. These in-person meeting will be held at one of the following two locations – Morris-Union Jointure Commission (MUJC) in New Providence or Bergen County Special Services (BCSS) in Paramus.<\/p>\n

Classes are scheduled to be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:30 – 7:50pm. Schedule is subject to change based on enrollment.<\/p>\n

The TATE program is for Elementary Education certification only.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Students can apply for Financial Aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yes, all Fall 2026 TATE applicants will be automatically considered for a scholarship. Scholarships will be available in varying amounts for students accepted into the program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

What is the GPA requirement for the program?<\/h3>\n

Fall 2026 applicants must have a minimum of a 2.75 college\/university GPA. However, Applicants with a GPA between 2.74 and 2.5 may still be considered.<\/p>\n

I do not have a 2.75 GPA. Can I still apply to the TATE program?<\/h3>\n

Yes, Applicants with a GPA between 2.74 and 2.5 may still be considered but an interview or additional supporting documentation may be required<\/span><\/p>\n

Are there any prerequisites or course requirements prior to entry?<\/h3>\n

No, however applicants must meet the Admissions requirements.<\/p>\n

\"Ramapo\"<\/div>\n

Do I need to obtain my NJ Substitute Certificate before starting the program?<\/h3>\n

No, but it must be obtained before enrolling in the Fall \u201827 term.<\/p>\n

\"Ramapo\"<\/div>\n

Is the Praxis required before starting the program?<\/h3>\n

No, but students in the program will need to pass the elementary core praxis prior to enrolling in the Clinical Practice 1 Course.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Can international students apply?<\/p>

\n

No, applicants must be US Citizens or US Permanent Residents.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> What GPA do I need to maintain during the program?<\/p>

\n

Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above once enrolled in the program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> Can I transfer in any teaching practicum courses?<\/p>

\n

All transcripts and courses will be reviewed by Admissions and the Teacher Education Team and transfer credit will be awarded if applicable. In some cases, ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ might need to request additional information from the student before awarding transfer credit.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

<\/i><\/i><\/i><\/span> If I started a teaching program elsewhere, am I eligible to start this program?<\/p>
